When I Was In Search For An Internship I Knew I Wanted

When I was in search for an internship I knew I wanted to find something where I could give back to my community. I talked with few people about it and they all told me about 5th legislative district office of senator Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez. I applied for the position of an internship and I got an interview for the position. As soon I went to the interview I felt a connection with the place I felt in love with it. I started going to the place on September 2016 to this point now. What I do with them is different everyday; it’s like a new Adventure. Everyday is something new but in general this is what we do. As a young girl, I have always associated white people with the quality of being rude or racist. For example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and comments. I vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a Caucasian person and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. The premise of the theory is that different situations demand different kinds of leadership (Northouse, 2015, p. 92). The head part is metallic neon green and gives an association to the topic science as it is usually considered nature based while green reflects this nature aspect. The other texture is a rough to smooth going dark grey metallic look which reflects the human involvement in the topic science. It makes sense that green is the head as it is the ground for the researches and the metallic artificial looking part is the content part of the website because it reflects what human found out so far. Thus it is a great choice of general design for the website. Furthermore the subtitles in the content part have a special pattern which gives the user the impression to see through a microscope on the subtitles. It thus keeps the topic science consistently over the complete page and uses patterns effectively to suggest the theme. Furthermore the head of the website provides a character and the logo design of the website which includes the other colors that will be used on the website. The colors are identification colors for the five different main themes of science the website provides. Gangs can have a tremendous effect on society. They have existed for hundreds of years, especially in America. Although gangs are usually created from people who intend to offer safety in numbers, this safety is usually done through acts of crime. Chapter one is â€Å"Initiation†. This included getting high with the other gang members, then getting beaten by his new comrades, then going out with a 12 gauge shotgun and ambushing a rival â€Å"set†. Sets are subsets of larger gangs like the Crips or the Bloods. Most gang violence occurs within these gangs between neighborhood â€Å"sets†. For example, Kody’s gang, the â€Å"Eight Trays† are Crips and mortal enemies to the â€Å"Rollin’ Sixties† Crips. Not only must each set fight their neighboring rivals, but also they are expected to respect the larger scale wars. If a group of sets declare war on another group of sets then your set may be expected to take a side. This can result in some very awkward diplomatic situations with Crip sets allied with Blood sets against Crip sets and their allied Blood sets. At one point in the book, the Eight Trays found themselves at war with a previously good ally, because of these larger conflicts. Kody took to the violence. He saw it as the step from childhood into manhood. He was good at it and soon received the gang name, â€Å"Monster†. He willingly and joyfully joined â€Å"Fly†, â€Å"Tray Ball†, â€Å"Huckabuck†, â€Å"Lep†, â€Å"Crazy D† and â€Å"Gangster Cool†. These youths were very much aware of the gangster legends, who had gone before them. This older members were mostly either dead or in jail. They seldom appear in the book, but when they do, there is respect and admiration from the younger members. Kody’s goal was to build such a reputation. He even had a three point plan to reach his goal. First, he had to build his personal reputation by effectively using violence. Second, he had to build his name in association with his set, so that when his name is spoken his set is spoken of â€Å"in the same breath†. Third, he must establish himself as a promoter of Crip. their activities affect society. Weapons were easily obtained from older members. 12 gauge, . 44, 9mm, . 38 were common. A â€Å"banger† seldom moved about without being â€Å"strapped† with his â€Å"gat†. The war was financed by thievery and drug sales. This was before crack and its associated money made full automatic the weapons of choice. Kody would patrol his neighborhood on his bicycle carrying a loaded hand gun. They shot their enemies on sight. I was frightened at times by the fearlessness, heartlessness, and cold bloodedness of some of the armed guiltless homicides. Avenging assaults, initiation attacks and a peppering of random acts of murder accompany this proclaiming of manhood. One gang member, challenged to a private duel, responded, â€Å"I’m a killer, not a gunfighter. † Monster’s reputation built quickly. He was a very effective killer. Kody found himself the target of older gang members who wanted him dead. He was ambushed, shot six times. He survived and went right back to banging. It all seemed quite normal to him. He couldn’t imagine living life as a â€Å"hook†, a civilian, a victim. He was at war for control of the civilians, the hood, their turf. Killing civilians was frowned upon. There was no glory in civilians, too easy. Some civilians even welcomed and protected the hood’s bangers as defenders. Later in the book, while in prison, Kody was recruited into an army of bangers, the Consolidated Crips Organization. That’s CRIPS, as in Clandestine Revolutionary International Party Soldiers, defender of the C-Nation, unifier of the warring sets with claim to the Crips name. The older gang members were very aware of the need for more unity between gang members to reduce the crippling infighting. There is much talk and effort placed in creating a Gang. The primary motivation to such unity was surviving the larger scale wars. The Crips were allied with gangs of Southern Mexicans against the Aryan Nazis with their Northern Mexican allies. California prison reads like a race war. This causes me to have nightmare visions of a possible Earth, where the racial and tribal lines of loyalty and disloyalty exists on a bloody worldwide scale. I took comfort in the fact that this book is the story of transformation, from a boy killer to a mature man. Gangs of all levels and types usually have a negative effect on society. Gangs, gang violence and gang wars typically suck up a city or town’s police resources because of the sheer number of people involved, lack of witness cooperation and types of crimes connected to gangs. Higher-level gangs that are investigated by the FBI sometimes force the agency to utilize very risky and very expensive resources like high-tech surveillance, informants and witness protection programs. Gangs also can bring down the property value of neighborhoods from the violence and vandalism involved with gang life. Big money investors may shy away from places where they feel that their properties and resources will not be used for fear of gang crimes. Gangs can also drive up prices of local groceries and commodities via their intimidating schemes that force businesses to pay them sums of money in exchange for â€Å"protection. Gangs have been threatening the progression of our society due to the fear that has been put into everyone’s eyes. In my own hometown of Fairfax Virginia, now whenever people hear the police car sirens, the first thought that comes into their mind is someone got shot. Gang violence is not just an issue in Fairfax; gang violence is known to be an is sue all over the world. Gang violence seems to be increasing all over the world throughout the years, and it’s becoming a major issue. Many people agree that innocent live get taken due to terror and violence that gangs bring to our society. The lives of young people are being put in danger because most gangs recruit young people as members. The younger members are the ones being sent to kill each other just to gain respect by the older people in the gangs, and the gain reputation in the gang too. Innocent’s people’s house get shot at because of the gangs trying to kill a gang member, and sometimes they end up killing an innocent person. Will Rogers once said, â€Å"If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. And believe in what you are doing.† When determining the laws of life that appealed to me, this quote emerged in my mind. The rising generation has the potential for great things, but in order to achieve that high of capacity, they need perseverance, direction, and self-reliance. I recall walking into my classroom on the first day of kindergarten knowing for certain that I wanted to become a teacher just like all the other young girls in my class. But as I grew older, I became more passionate about the world of medicine and caring for people. About two years ago, I read a book that I had recently checked out at the library that a friend recommended. It was called All the Light We Cannot See written by Anthony Doerr. The novel takes place in France during World War II and is centralized around the life of a blind French girl named Marie-Laure LeBlanc and an eighteen-year-old German boy named Werner Pfennig. Reading this story about determination and destiny led to a turning point in my life. Throughout the war, both Marie and Werner feel as if they have no control over their lives. However, after the two characters meet and realize how alike they are, they become stronger and begin to take control of themselves. As I was reading this, I felt as if I should take action in my own life and the first step in doing that would be to find something that I am interested in. After searching for about a week with no luck, I happened to walk in on my mom watching the T.V. show Scrubs. Interested, I sat down next to her and began to watch. When the episode finished, I realized I had found what I had been seeking the entire time. I had not just been looking for a hobby or interest, I had been looking for a p urpose to strive for and I had found it. My mind filled with endless possibilities that only grew larger as I learned more about health and the body. As I continued to take educational opportunities working towards my career in medicine, I realized I needed perseverance. Dedicating my time to my school work and not giving up brought me great rewards throughout the years and it continues to do so. My plans to study with my career goals in mind throughout 9th to 12th grade continue to develop and evolve because of my persistence in looking for a variety of health classes and programs offered at school and online. The ability to endure to the end and stay determined can assist one in the process of going above and beyond in education and life. As I finish off my freshman year at Mountain Pointe High School, I remain diligent preparing for the future by saving money, participating in extracurricular activities, and working hard to earn good grades. One day while we were driving to a friend’s house, my mom decided to take an unknown shortcut to reach our destination quicker. That risky shortcut took us to the wrong place and we ended up becoming lost. We became increasingly angry with one another as more time went by. Frustrated in our attempts, we decided to always have direction and a goal in mind before we began driving in order to prevent a situation like it from happening again. Having objectives to work for will prepare one for the road of life where the ultimate destination is success in doing something loved. Although people may not realize it, everyone is in control of where their car on the road of life ends up. We are the ones turning the steering wheel and putting our feet on the pedals. Every once in awhile, our foot will slip off the gas and hit the brake by accident, but learning from our mistakes is a part of life. If a person knows where they are going and has confidence not only in the direction, but in their abilities as well, then they will reach success. It is true that we can all get a little lost along the way sometimes, but that is what setting goals is for. They act as GPS’s in our lives to help us get where we want to go. Setting objectives to achieve in my life encourages me to take advantage of opportunities that will prepare and send me in a medical career direction. For example, I am planning on attending a Summer Scholars Nursing Program at ASU this summer and taking anatomy and physiology classes during my sophomore year. I hope to have the pleasure of becoming a nursing assistant before my graduation in 2020. As I walk down the aisle to receive my diploma senior year, I imagine starting a new chapter in my book of life. This chapter tends to be full of difficult choices, new surroundings, and plenty of self-reliance. About a year and a half ago, I learned the true meaning of relying on yourself. My mom unexpectedly ended up in the hospital for several days and my younger sister and I were left alone. During that period of time, we were forced to cook our own meals, do our chores without being asked, and comfort each other when we were feeling stressed or unhappy. It was very difficult dealing with schoolwork, worrying about our mom, and taking care of our home all on our own. But learning to depend on ourselves is a large part of preparing for the future and my sister and I learned that early in life. Gaining an understanding of these lessons was another target I hoped to accomplish before completing high school and I did. Not learning this principle causes people to be less productive a nd to become oblivious to the value of work. Knowledge, self-discipline and an increased amount of self-worth can be received if one learns to become self-reliant. I believe that this generation has the potential to change the world if they learn the importance of perseverance, direction, and self-reliance and how it can impact lives in the future. Possessing these traits and living by these laws will encourage people that they are on their way to remarkable things.

An employee who feel appreciated and challenged in the firm, he may feel more satisfaction towards their tasks and duties through learning and development. In this way, the company is able to meet its desired goals and objectives in the compet itive market (Tooksoon, 2011). Conclusion On the above mentioned analysis, it has been evaluated that diversity management, favorable culture, performance measurement and training and development are important and vital functions of human resource management. In todays modern world, HRM is becoming an integral part of each and every company. No company can survive its business activities and operations effectively without sustainable HRM. Furthermore, it is noted that success and growth of the firm and employee as well depends on the effective and unique HRM. Various policies, strategies and plans are initiated by human resource management for attaining the better results and outcomes. In addition, they protect the rights of the employees by measuring their performance and providing favorable working environment. On the other hand, HRM conducts training and development sessions to get better outputs and improve effectiveness of the workers. To provide learning and development coaching, various methods are used by HR team wit hin the organization. Learning and development sessions help in reducing and eliminating the cross cultural management issues in the firm. Moreover, it builds and develops positive culture in the workplace. In addition, training and development is considered an important tool that can bring an individual into a position where they can perform their duties and tasks correctly and effectively. Additionally, diversity management plays an empirical role in the organization to introduce innovation in the workplace. The diverse workforce helps to attract and retain the customers in the marketplace as it also helps to reduce the risks and challenges of the global market. By using diversity management, people are easily able to understand and know the culture and languages of different countries. Therefore, the company can gain several benefits with the help of diverse people in the workplace. Now it is recommended that the firm should make unique and effective strategies, policies and plans in the organization to manage culture and diversity issues. Along with this, unique and effective standards and norms must be set by HRM to conduct business operation successfully and correctly. It shall be observed that the organization should set objectives and goals to gain the advantages of diverse workforce at the workplace. In addition, HRM should ensure that written guidelines are relevant and unambiguous and easy to understand each person. Along with this, feedback must be collected by managers to improve and enhance the performance of the workers. Effective and unique communication shall be made by the HRM to communicate and share knowledge, skills and opinion among the workers. Equal rights should be provided to each and every employee in the organization to make happy them at the workplace. There should not be any discrimination in the organization. Additionally, performance management system must be developed and used by human resource management to analyses and identify the skills, talents and potential of the workers. In this way, HRM can analyze the productivity of an individual as it also help in motivating the workforce. Apart from this, unique and attractive recruitment and selection strategies should adopt by the company to attract and retain the employees. Further, an employer should be able to talk and approach with their employees to encourage and motivate them. Trust is a critical tool to build and develop reciprocal relationship with employees at the workplace. Moreover, a leader or manager should provide support to their workers when they are needed. A good manager is responsible to get to know each employees needs, requirements, desires and wants. Additionally, unique training and development tools and techniques shall be used by human resource management to develop skills, experience and knowledge of the workers.
